just tried to do the exact same thing on an old grundig box and it works flawlessly, maybe the newer box with the newer software prevents this. is there a way to clear any updates to the box or maybe downgrade the firmware?

Unfortunately, the software comes over the satellite and you don't have a choice of which version it loads.

the digibox is too much hard work for satellites other than 28e.

Heres a tip, if you go on e*b*ay.de and type in patchbar or supersoft their are loads of receivers that are available for 30-40 euros.
