managed to get an RMA number eventually, spoke to the guy on the phone , he told me that they had got 1000 eurovoxes in and a certain amount from every box were the ones which wouldn't update, he also mentioned that it had been a complete nightmare dealing with it and that all the replacement returns were being tested before being sent out, anyway, i sent it away recorded delivery last week. If it comes back and works with the normal firmware updates then that's fine by me, saves me the embarrassment of taking 85 quid off my sister for a crappy freeview box.

dont think that would work, due to legal complications about what you're actually paying for.

Try dvb junkie uk-great service...no clones here.He is a little more expensive but you are paying for piece of mind. Also,he sells his boxes Pre-Flashed so you just have to plug it into the cable and scan(idiots guide included).Think it`s £99.99+£10 Parcelforce delivery.Hope this helps.

got replacement box back from satandcable today, plugged it in, updated firmware and it works pefectly. I only sent the box itself back but got complete kit returned so i now have a spare remote, makes up for return postage cost.
I'll definitely keep dvb junkie in mind though, for future reference.
cheers.

TechDNA-received an EX5000 clone! (Not the normal warranty seal, but a clone warranty seal. On the warrant seal it says "Eurovox Ex5000 PVR")
