I want to ftp my dbox , but the only thing is i dont have a crossover cable , so i am going to buy one .but once i have bought one, i was wondering will ftp work using a xover cable , even though im going to be doing it on a wireless computer ?

The Crossover will be just like using a network/router/wireless without the obvious advantages of wireless, multiple pcs etc.
So yup! just set an ip address for pc via control panel, set same ip address range for the dbox and then access. |

Yes it works fine mate you are using your ethernet port for your ftp, as long as you change the i.p. address in properties. I used a laptop with wifi on and all was fine.
I am on vista and found a good guide on you tube how to do it by mikey1981 called "flashing a dbox via ftp" I would post link but not sure how the moderators feel about links but the description should help good to ya mate. |
