Default To Split or not?

Hi Guys,

I need some advice: A bti of background to help understand what i'm babelling about.

I've had sky+160 at home for quite some time although we cancelled subscription some time back. Today I've had a new sky+ installation carried out under my name.

All the engineer did is swap the new box for the old. Now my problem is:
I have an active subscription to some 3rd party channels on the old sky viewing card! I called up the company in question (to ask to switch viewing to new card), but they have said they do not have me on file as a customer!!!

It's at this point I realised that I am infact getting these channels free on the card (haven't paid for ~ 2 years!), so I made up some crap and hung up.... I don't really want to pay 200 Euro's for 1 channel and go and buy subscription!!!!

I wanted to ask someone knowledgeable what my best options would be? I thought I could simply use a splitter on the feed from the LNB and run both boxes but after reasearch it turns out this is a no-no? Do I have to get multiroom and have the LNB changed?

The thing is, only one box will be running at any given time, so therefore will splitting the feed not work for me?? If anyone knows any other way of getting it to work then let me know!!! All comments and help is highly appreciated!

You should have a 4 output lnb on the dish so just run twin shotgun cable from the 2 spare outputs to where you want the spare box located.

If you have Sky+ you already have a quad output lnb on the dish!
