Like you i'm new at this things. This is what i did downloaded the new image to the pc> go to google and search hallenberg its in german but if you google translate you will be ok>them go to downloads and download the first program on top> then open program choose the image(option1) then on no 2
go on drop down arrow and choose the only option you have is that easy.
My setup is a laptop a router and dbox2(nokia) no null cable. Now this really worked with my box.
Regards

i have successfully flashed my dbox without a crossover cable using flash fxp,

heres how.

1/ go into network connections and right click on your internet connection
2/ right click and select properties and then double click on internet protocol tcp/ip
3/ select use ip manually add the following ip
192.168.0.105
255.255.255.0
192.169.254.2

click ok to save

disable firewall

press blu button on dbox, select settings and select network
look for the ip settings and make a note of current ip

start up flash FXP and click the connect icon, (looks like flash of lightning)
select quick connect
select server or url and put in the ip from the dbox
user name = root
password dbox2

then hit connect
if it works you will see the directories of the dbox on the right hand side of the box,
save your services and bouquets now by selecting them and transfering them to your pc. your now ready to copy the new image over

browse to your var/tmp folder on the dbox files

on the left, browse to your saved image and select it, then select transfer.

your new image should now transfer to your box,

you now need to flash the image using the flash/back up image commands on your dbox once this is done copy your services and bouquets back into the dbox ,select your location from the list, reboot your box then scan for channels, ,

revert your pc to auto select ip and re apply firewall

sorted
