Default Starview remote control life span

Hello guys

I am confused as to the life span of starview remote controls. In the past 12 months I've had to buy about 5 of them. They all just seem to break down and stop responding. Are they meant to last 2 to 3 months only or maybe its just me subjecting them to some harsh environments which they can't cope with. I even have a bunch of new batteries that I've been trying with no joy.
The latest one I've got has just stopped responding which means I'll be hunting for the sixth one in about 13 months.

Please help me with a remedy to this outbreak.

Thanks
TB

Thanks, I have tried it twice before and it worked but now it seems the remote has done its time.

Hi Techbee,
Had mine for nearly 2 years but in that time it sometimes stops working. It just packed up worse than ever but in order to "get it back" I swithched the box off at the back and left it for about 10 mins. This is the longest "power down" I have needed, before it was just an on off, maybe you could try this?
After that the remote burst back into life! (For now.......)
So far, touch wood (my head?) have not needed a new remote. Only changed batteries a couplo' of times but not sure it even needed that. IE each time I assumed this to be the problem but it needed a power down to fix it.

All the best,
Blackie

Hmm, think I spoke too soon, mine only seems to be working for a few minets after box power down, so now I gotta ask you;
Where is the best place to get a replacement? Flea bay?

They are strange though, some days they seem to be sticky than next they are fine........

Oh well.
