Some Channels But Not All - Strange!!

Hi All,
Recently my nokia dbox2 is only showing certain channels.
I can get most movie and sport channels but can't seem to get other ppv channels and can't even get some or most FTA channels......... Weird!!
When I try to do a scan it cannot find any transponders using bruteforce for UK and fast scan off etc.
The reason for the scan was to get S*Y 1, 2, 3 etc.
I backed-up my service and bouquet files before I did it (as always).
The scan brought back zero channels.
I ftp'd the service and bouquet files back over and took it to my mates house where it scans and sees everything no problem. Every channel is picked up.
There is nothing wrong with the box as my mates house has proved which makes me think it is my signal - but how can it be possibly be my signal when I am getting the channels I have mentioned.
Also - what should be in the VM cable box outside of the house?
Should it just be a normal splitter in there to for my TV and broadband or should there be an attenuator.
If if is the latter then surely that would weaken my signal immensely depending on how much db it is.

Signal is 55000 which is ok all connections are tight.

Have checked all my connections etc and still having same problem.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

check the box on the wall inside and outside for any old big bulky splitters that might be there.... remove and replace with straight thru connectors...
otherwise weak or dieing tuner ,, replace the whole dbox..

do you know anyone with a dbox near you that you can test your line with?

Check your cabling inside is intact. My friend had something similar happen and turned out something rodent like creature had nibbled his wire.

hi mate
signal might be 55000 but if your tuner is weak then that is irrelevant... try a booster to amp up the signal and see if that helps...

Hi folks, Many thanks for the replies.
Like I said, I took this box to a mates house and everything is working perfectly so no tuner probs - thank god!!!

masalawalla - Definitely no rodents lol - except for the neighbour

quavis - Yes there is a large 3 inch long 3.7db attenuator (which looks like a normal splitter to most) in the box which I am thinking of replacing.
My only fear is:- Would VM not detect the change in sig with me taking this out and replacing it with a normal splitter?
I also tried a booster from argos but it made no difference.

I have repaired and fixed alot of these boxes and I just cannot understand for the life of me why it works ok in other houses but wont completely function in mines.

Any more ideas extremely welcome

hi mate

thats a big splitter lol and more than likeley the old analogue one....
remove that and replace with an inline connector.. and i bet your problem dissolves...
also i would check outside in the box on the wall to.. theres more than likeley a big splitter there too....

out of 100 houses 50 will ahve the old splitters and what they do is halve the signal.... get rid.

When u say an inline connector - Do you mean a 5 - 1000 mhz splitter?
