Question Sealing The F Plug?

I managed to get my car boot parts Sky freeview running today after spending many hours to align the dish without a meter, its all bolted up and running nicely, the signal bar and picture quality bar on about 75 percent....should they read any higher than this? What can i use to seal the F plug, i know there's proper tape to do this, but someone suggested plumbers joint tape...any use?
Should i be able to get uk channels 4 and 5 on Sky digital freeview, if so do these have to be tuned in manually?

To seal the F-plugs use self-amalgamating tape, not sure if plumbers use it too.

Ch4 is on 10714H,22000

Ch5 is on 10773H,22000

both FTA, tune in manually I think.

If you stick any card into your slot ch4 and ch5 will appear in the EPG if not already there.

If it keeps the connection waterproof then go for it but don't use insulation tape, it doesn't work.

So long as the signal quality stays above 50% (minimum) in heavy rain, you shouldn't have a problem at 75%. You could try to tweek it for better quality when you have nothing better to do. Happy viewing.

you can get self amalgy tape at wilkos for about a quid by the way .. works fine.
Be sure to pull it tight so it fuses together

Thumbs up Re: Sealing The F Plug?

Many thanks, i have 4 and 5 now, i'll take a look in Wilko for some S/A tape.
Just as a matter of interest...does 4 and 5 stop in *Other channels*or can they be moved to the main menu?
Thanks again

No, you can't move them about,, the Sky epg is not user configurable.

Do you have 4 and 5 in the list?

If not, stick any card into the slot, and see what happens.
