Hey guys,

Have an Ambit 250 which I just got back from a mate as he said it had just went off! I assumed mac needed changed as everything else looked ok. I gave him one already prepared and set about changing the mac address. Sometimes it works, sometime it doesn't and sometimes it takes you to the 169... Virgin Registration page. Now this isn't with just one mac but quite a few which all work on other units so it's def a problem with this particluar 250.

Tried reflashing it a few times and still the same.

Has anyone come across this or can offer any further advice?

When you say it sometimes works and sometimes gives you a 169.x.x.x IP, do you mean while your using it online or when you power it down and back up?

Also did you change the default username/password for the firmware you added, change the modems serial, turn off remote telnet and turn off max_dl retries to zero?

Thanks for the response, don't want to speak too eary, but it appears it was a problem with either the firmware (not so sure) or the serial number. I was unaware that this could be changed! So I changed the firmware to the haxorware10rc3_Ambit250_fullflash.bin firmware and from the web interface I then changed the serial to match the mac I used, would this sound correct?

I did changed the login details and turned off remote telnet but using the haxorware firmware I was unsure how to turn off max_dl retries. Is this necessary and if so how do I accomplish this?

Nooo you dont want to change the serial to the MAC, you want to change the section where it says HFC MAC to the illegal MAC you want to use. There are some guides on configuring haxoware in the forum, just have a quick search
