xbox live connection problems plz help

ok iam not very good at all this as u can tell my problem is when i try to connect to xbox live it says network adadter wired ok then it gets to ip address and it says failed heres what ive got ive got a zoom adsl modem coming from the phone to my laptop then ive got a ethernet cable coming out of my laptop and in to the xbox not sure if thats the right way but ive tryed ti fill all the username and pass and all the other stuff in but it still dont work been messing about with it all days lol starting to go crazy some1 said i should enable sharing in network connections but i dont have router and i cant see that there anyways some1 plz help me of sort this crap out plz any help is very much appreciated trust me

Easy solution is to go wireless

Have you enabled Internet Connection Sharing? If not, enable it on the connection to the internet and it should allow you to share it with the ethernet adapter. Give you XBox a Dynamic IP address then run the Live tests. This works for me so give it a try and let us know how you get on .

ive looked in network connections properties and there is no internet sharing connection box which is weird cos every1 said they have 1 is this only with a router connected i dont have a lan icon just my zoom adsl icon and i dont no what u mean when u say set up an dynamic ip m8 could u give me quick guide been messing about with this for ages with no success any help appreciated and thx for getting back to me anyways

You need to right click your internet connection (what network card your modem plugged into) then enable Internet Connection Sharing.

network card?its just plug in the back of the laptop,usb port soz dont no what u mean.internet conections?what u mean my zoom icon in network connections is that it i no ive been in there it just says something about the firewall and network setup wizardin the advanced tab ive tryed the wizard but doesnt seem to do much i cant see internet sharing anywhere havent got a clue what iam doing lol but i dont have a network card at least at dont think i do and there is no internet sharing in the advanced tab of my connection dont no y but thats the way it is m8.

ive just found this in device manager lol maybe something to do with this but i havent got my ethernet pluged in now maybe thats y it saying this my xbox is upstairs and every1 gone to bed so cant test again not yet anyways but dont no if that ill bringing up internet sharing once fixed.

No. If you are using XP, go to Control Panel and open up Network Connections. Right click on the connection you use to connect to the internet and enable ICS for it. If you are struggling, send me a PM and I will try to help you out.

Well first thing is to get your devices functioning so you will need drivers for them next is your zoom device is it a router or just 1 port modem?
