You have to search away; scanning MACs in your own UBR will get working MACs for others but when you try and connect using it then this causes 2 of the same MAC addresses in one UBR and this will automatically kick you off.
Simple, cannot be done.

corse u can sniff in your own ubr, and use the macs, but only by BRUTE FORCING some will indeed conflict, but 90% u find will work fine! ive been using a 20mb mac from my ubr, sniffed from my house for about 6-8 weeks the modem is on 24/7 and ive never had any probz!
use dhcp sniffer and make sure u put a valid mac in and tick brute force BEFORE u click search simple it can be done! Last edited by nick999; 12-12-08 at 04:27 PM. |

Hey sorry to dredge up an old thread, but if this works and you get no warnings in haxorware does that mean it's ok to carry on using? When you get booted on haxorware does it auto reconnect and just show a warning? Would it keep reconnecting and and booting the owner of the mac so they report it, can it be detected on the network surely it can by virmin?

Why would you even want to use a MAC address in your local area? The reason everybody suggests getting a MAC address from a different UBR is so that you don't keep getting kicked off. Virgin Media will most likely see both modems on the network at the same time (using the same MAC address) and they will kick yours because it's a clone. However, MAC addresses from a different UBR used on a clone modem can also be kicked off the network now.

everytime i use brute force, which i have only tried recently i get a load of mac addresses but they all start with the first four digits is this what normally happens when you bruteforce, ie if i put a mac address starting 00:14, i gat about 50 or 60 coming up in seconds, or if i put in 00:22 iget the same result ie 50 or 60 macs all starting with 00:22, as i said i have only used bruteforce a couple of times, as i heard it can set alarm bells ringging,
