Hi,

I want to know firstly do VM use Static IP addresses or Dynamic? Also can i chage the IP address of my modem

By the way this is not a modified modem it a standard subscribed monthly billing internet connection - just want to change my IP address

Any one know how? or if it is possible?

They only issue dynamic IPs to home users. People have been asking for years, even offering to pay, for static IPs. The only way to change the IP is to unplug your modem, overnight or longer, and hope someone else picks up that IP in the meantime. I have now had the same one for 4 months at least, but I have known it to change overnight on a few occasions. If you have a router with the option to Clone your Mac address (many do), this might be your best bet.

Correct me if i'm wrong but I thought he said he is using a subbed modem, so he won't be able to change the modems mac.

Zed, you can use Smac to change your nic mac, then reboot your pc.
You may or may not get another IP, its not guaranteed though.

i can confirm it works,
when i used to download fom rap*dshare,
they used to have long waiting times,
so i used 2 change my nic mac,
and would in turn get a new ip,
and the above is the program i used,
simply click on the connected local area connection and click change mac,
and just choose a random 1!
hope that helps!

p.s i think that programs wicked!
