Default R V+ boxes more at risk that normal noxes of being caught?

Early this year I moved house and VM came out to install my cable which I got a new box (not v+) which I then had done, No problems hapy viewing, With Xmas coming up I decided to upgrade to the v+ box and thought I would also get that done and sell my older box to cover the cost of getting the v+ box chipped. Since getting it however I have been warned off touching it as it is my subbed box. My older box never had any trouble or knocks at the door so my question is this.

Are VM more likely to catch those who own a v+ box than older boxes?

Has anyone had any experiance of being caught or know that it goes on as some say on here that people are just trying to scare you while others say it is genuine?

One guy suggested getting a seperate card done and that if ever I get a knock at the door then simply replace the card with the original?

VERY CONFUSED.COM if anyone can help.

The first rule off modding boxes is NEVER use a subbed box. I think it be just a matter of time till you get the knock on the door?

Good luck m8

Seperate card dont work chief, and b4 some clever d.ick says 'yeah it does' no it don't, yes a second card would work just as the first, but to obtain the details you would have to pop the original card in which case you may aswell re-write the original card, coz once its popped they can tell if you have been in it.

This Question keeps coming up, If you want to increase the chance of being caught and prosecuted then go ahead.
What are you going to do if you have a problem on the line or a fault and they need to come in and check.
Everyone seems to know a bloke whos been doing it for years.
We wouldnt be telling people not to do it for no reason!

would like to point out that if you put your card in sidewinder or use mikedata then it will unlock your card this is whats meant by 'popped' and yes if virgin come to sort a fault etc they CAN tell you have tampered with it or they wouldnt lock it in the first place

VMs boxes they install in customers homes belong to VM.
If you hacked VMs property, more fool you.
What happens if they want to replace it or check if its talking back to the network? However unlikely this may appear, why increase your chances of being caught?

If you paid someone else to hack it and they knew it was a legit box, then thats a very unscrupulous person and i'm suspecting you may very well get yourselves into unnecessary trouble. You might as well just tell VM you're stealing TV from them...

Many Thanks for all your advice from everyone. I now have the 2 V+ Boxes here and wondered if it is ok to plug the subbed one in my bedroom and have the unlocked one in my livingroom will VM be able to talk back with the box upstairs ok?

I am really sorry if some of the things I have asked or said seem dumb to you guys but I really know nothing about this sort of things and when I get messages from different people stating different things is does get confusing.
