I was trying to post an attachment (a rar file) to a thread and it is coming up as invalid file - is this a new restriction?__________________

Yes - rar and zip files have been turned off due to the number of cable idiots posting modified receiver firmware patches onto the forum.
Post them on something like sendspace and post a non live link to the download.
Put an underscore on the post before you paste the link in:

Basic forum rules for both satellite & cable:
no keys
no patches
no offering or asking for card shares
Anyone pm'ing me for details of card sharing or anything to do with hacking cable will be banned immediately
