I'll cast another vote for StatCounter. It not only does everything you mentioned but it has a toplist and can send you traffic, as well. The only drawback is that the free service has limited storage but the paid service isn't all that expensive.

Addfreestats.com is pretty comprehensive and shows visitors countries.
You have to put up with an annoying pop up when retreiving your stats though.... Sample page here: AFS

Would you use software that has to be installed on your server? I'm not sure of a program that allows you to greet the visitor...although I'm assuming it can be done...but why not try Google Analytics.
