Hi kadnor,
welcome to the forum.
I have moved your post from the satbeams thread and started a new thread in the Satellite Help & Support section, as hopefully it will get more views, and replies, in its own thread.

would think a 2.5M dish would be beyond the capability of a Diseqc motor

Without a doubt

I would think your probably looking at a Polar mount and a 36v Jack motor for a dish of that size. A DISEqC motor wouldn't last 5 mins on a dish that size.

Mine struggles enough with my 1m dish

You would also need a positioner or a receiver capable of driving a 36v motor

or a V box...what motor do you use, am thinking of upgrading my 65cm to 1M later in the new year, currently using a £35 job from Maplin.

the jaeger 1224 motor might work with the dish if it is light weight but the size might be too much even for this beast
