Well, I got my Ambit 255 in about 12ish today. Since then Ive looked at vids, read stickys, googled but I still can't manage to "hack it" Does anyone have a guide that explains in a lot of detail. Im really stuck!

Have you got a max232?? whe u have one read the haynes guide its very clear on what to do.

I do have a max232 and reading the guide now

EDIT: The guide is pretty much exactly the same as the ones I read before. When I get to hyperterminal, I get a little stuck. Oh BTW I got an NTL CD with this modem. Would I need to install that first(It is unmodified, because I can connect to the net with it at a speed of my current 2MB/S)

The modem connects to the net by my main ethernet port on my motherboard,but when connected to a PCI card, it doesn't. I might just try putting the NTL disk on that I was given

EDIT 2: The modem does not connect to the net, thats my other modem

And when installing the virgin media/ntl software nothing is picked up. When I get to hyperterminal and switch the modem on, I get nothingness. Can anyone help?

Is my modem bricked. the eBay seller said it had unmodified firmware on it

not bricked, just not configured properly.

id suggest putting haxorware onto the modem via rs232.

once you have done that, you will have a nice GUI to change mac addresses etc to get the modem online.

however, if its a stock modem, you might not get the "p" option, you will need the bootloader unlocker and softjtag to reinstall a hackable bootloader.

haxoware? I looked in the download section, couldn't find it

yeah, for some reason people on this site havent caught onto it.

Im staff on the site whos firmware it is, came over here to spread some love to my fellow brits as im surrounded by yanks over there.

sbhacker.net, check haxorware subforum for latest version and some screenshots.
