usb to rs232

hello, im not sure if im asking in the correct place

but here goes !!

im trying to install a usb cable but have lost the little disk that came with it, do i need it or is there something else i can get from the net to install it??

(the usb connects to an rs232)

Go to the manufacturers web site - if it needs a driver it will be on there.

erm...... i dont have the package it came in either !!!
bought it from ebay but dont no who the manufac is lol

Goto your device manager in control pannel. U might find the device under there named unknown device, right-click update drivers. It should then let u go through the process of finding the driver for u.

I would be most suprised if the driver is within windows, I recently purchased one from dealextreme for just a few pounds. I was running vista but still had to install drivers for it to be recognised.

i had major problems with prolific driver on my vista pc, it just wouldnt work, neither would others i came accross, so after one last attempt i came accross this link. its in chinese, but the word download is in english, your computer will ask you if you wish to continue to install as it cannot verify the publisher, just click yes and voila.. ur wire works. i was almost doin cartwheels round the room. so just thought id share the glory!!

I got a disc with my lead today but could I f**k get my puter to recognise the box. I installed the driver from that link and voilla instant recognition.
