Default Help for a new to satellite person please.

Hi,

I'm kinda new to all this and wondered if anyone can give me some advice on the following.

I currently have a standard sky installation, with only a single cable coming out of the LNB. Just purchased a new TV which is 1080p and was interested in going HD.

I know sky do it and charge, but wonderd if the Freesat HD was worth giving a go, AND! is it just a case of buying a freesat HD box and connecting the cable or does the system require a special LNB or multiple cables which i heard someone say you need.

Any help would be much appreciated, but please don't get too technical just yet

If you want to use the pvr capabilities of HD boxes you will need two cables running from the dish to the receiver. This means the lnb needs to be swapped for a multiple outlet lnb (normally a quad - 4 - output)

Tye Freesat HD offering is VERY limited at the moment (two part time channels)

The Sky HD offering has a bigger range of channels - with 2 more launching this week - but will cost you an extra tenner a month subscription

Yep as stated above by AS only a couple of hd channels on freesat. But i have a humax foxsat box and it upgrades the picture even on the non hd channels. I also have sky +, but wont pay them for hd, and the picture quality difference is amazing, the humax being much better.
