Default eurovox max

hi Ive got a eurovox max not sure whether its a blue or red it`s about two years old with the serial no ray384cxa0604 am wanting to flash it have got the rs232 cable a couple of other questions do`s it need to be connected to the TV when i update it and what firmware/software do i need to upload first .

no tv, if it is blue then red flash will reject and vice versa

thanks for that ptolmy its just that i was looking through the forum and it was saying that the tv had to be connected and is it the files .files & fixes ufl Eurovox blue au fix is that all i need to download

Make sure first of all whether your box is a clone or not and make sure you are using the right firmware.

It is not a standard Rs232 cable that is required it is a Rs232 Null modem cable, they are different things.

whats the difference the cable i have bought has one end usb other end serial got it from maplins on the box it says converter usb to rs-232 serial interface

You're still going to need a null modem cable.

One will flash your box and download cdf files etc, the other won't

Taken from maplins website.

Serial Lead - RS232 serial leads are commonly found on connections between peripheral equipment such as modems and a PC, although there are many other uses. Pins are connected 1 to 1, 2 to 2, 3 to 3 etc making this a straight-wired cable.

Null Modem Lead - Null Modem serial leads are commonly found on connections between two PCs to allow data transfer and basic networking, although there are many other uses. Pins are connected reverse layout. The pinouts for this item are as follows: 2-3, 3-2, 4-6, 5-5, 6-4, 7-8, 8-7.

So you could in fact chop the cable you have and resolder it together but you will be better off returning it and exchange it for the correct one
