Sorry for the lack of title but I didn't know what to call this question.
I have set up a contract with Virgin for the medium TV package. A friend has offered me a box that has been modified so that I can receive all channels. He has said that I can cancel the virgin contract after the years contract finishes, they take their own box away and I just plug this new one in. My question is. Do I have to wait for my contract to be terminated and their box taken away before I can use it, or can I use it straight away without any repercussions. Thank you for any help and advice. x |

Sometimes they dont collect the box , u can use it now and give VM the box if they want it but id wait til they collect it(if they want it) as they might see your new modded one plugged in and get suspisious.

take out the cheapest package, even just take out a broadband package. Always pay something or they could cut your line off & you will not receive any channels at all.
Always give a little something back, its like insurance to keep your line live. |

Thanks ever so much I really appreciate your opinions. So from what you have all said it is better to wait until my 12 month contact has ended and they have collected their box. Or can I plug it in during the 12 month contract period?

yea you can plug it in & use it now,as long as talkback is cut they cant see the box. Sometimes its best to split your feed & keep your subscribed box on the line also.

I'm sorry, forgive my ignorance, I have no knowledge of these things at all and thought I could just plug and go lol. What is a talkback box and what do I have to do (bearing in mind it is not the actual Virgin box that has been modified).
Edit: just looked up talkback on here and I understand that it is something that needs to be done inside the box. I assume to stop Virgin talking to the connection and getting info back from it (hence talkback). As it is a bit technical I assume this person will have already made sure that this is the case, otherwise I will ask the question as to be honest I wouldn't have a clue. hopefully the guy who done the box has already cut the tb but there is some guys out there who dont actually modify the box, they just mod the card.
Connect box up & press 'settings' on your remote controller, scroll down to 'technical stuff' & hit 'ok'. It will show your 'DHCP Status'. If it says 'return path off' then talkback is cut , if it says 'return path is on' then tb inst cut. gl |
