Default VM 50MB arrives!

Been posted on some other forums too.

Quote:
Virgin Media is expected to unveil its 50Mbps broadband service at a press briefing this morning.

It will be the fastest domestic connection available to UK web surfers. Early reports suggest the XXL service will be priced at £52 per month with upload speeds capped to 1.75Mbit, increasing to 2.5Mbit in 2009.

According to a report in the FT, Virgin Media CEO Neil Berkett was quoted as saying "It will be premium-priced," at an investors conference in New York last week. "I see no reason to go in cheap" he added.

Members at popular cable forums are reporting the service is available now for £52 a month and confirmed this by posting the following self care page where Virgin Media customers can upgrade:
It's also over at the BBC website, but i can't posty a linky.

Anyone got the Config file, lol

Unfortunatly i dont think that we will be able to get it as i believe the new platform for the 50meg is on Docsis 3.0 and others are on Docsis 1.1 and 2.0.
So it will have to be a completly new modded modem

Yes I did. As a matter of fact i read it twice so it would absorb into my brain and I'd remember it until my days are up.

I understand that a new modem would be needed, a new modem that was capable of working at the new speeds.

<<-- this is what I was reffering to.

Sometime soon, there will be new modems floating about with new firmwares to flash and new guides to follow, just as there was with the current Docsis's.

So please, don't be so rude by asking whether "I" had bothered to read the post when I was only joking about a little when I mentioned config files etc... Notice the after the things I said.

So with all that in mind and because I have yet to do a modem yet... Bring On The Modding.. However long it takes.

Respect to all who write tut's, write software and all of those who help people like me learn.

Kango.

Ok, fair comment.

However, I still stand by the fact that some time soon there will be posts and guides on here about the new system. From what I have read, Docsis 1.0, 1.1, & 2.0 also had there share of security at the time.

I might not be the best at this modding game but there's a hacker saying... If you can make it you can break it.

Sorry for saying you were rude.. I thought you were having a dig.

True, lets see how it goes ay. Fingers crossed.

So does anyone care to talk about the 50meg at all?

Anyone thinking of purchasing when it comes to their area?

docsis is broken by design, but we will need to wait for methods to read/write to the modems at the very least.

if there will be a remote exploitable method or not we will have to wait and see (i.e. mac cloning) or we might need 100% clones (mac/serial and certs from modems nonvol) which will be harder.
