I'm certainly not a tech head, nor a Sky customer, but do you need to have the boxes connected to the phone line for the interactive service to work?

I expect it's a faulty receiver - I may be wrong though - it may be firmware related.
A second-user Grundig digibox I own never accessed BBC Interactive for me, reporting an error like the one above at the point where it should switch from the current BBC channel to the transponder carrying the interactive stream. Various possible faults (including failing PSU) could lead to that receiver not tuning to a number of frequencies ie. missing channels (No Signal errors) which are reported differently from within the BBC Interactive application. |

My Grandad is having the same problem. He has a normal Sky box, can view Sky fine, and on BBC presses the red button, the options come up and he can see the normal ones, news, weather etc, but when it's Multiscreen stuff, like with Tennis, Athletics etc he selects that it goes to the loading screen then comes up with a blue background saying BBC Interactive isn't available at the moment (this has been going on for months) and has the error code C501-U38-L1970
I called Sky and they were rubbish, getting me to unplug, check connections etc etc which I'd done already. Can anyone help/have any ideas for a reason behind this? It's coming up to Wimbledon time and he wants to view the tennis the poor fella. Any help welcome as I'm stumped! |
