It is easy, just read Ronster's Guide (sticky) which informs you of how to count slots to tell. Next iffy is whether you have a clone rubbish blue!!!!!!!!!

Hi and welcome to Techwatch

most information you will ever need will be somewhere in previous posts so have a good read.

the norm is to go by the length of the tuner (where the cable feed plugs in)
if its length is 8 slots of the grid it is a red box
12 slots = blue box

just try the red or blue flash. which ever one is rejected as "inappropriate" will tell u that it is other.

Ta for your post to thread - I was just getting lazy, but you forgot to tell that blue 12 slot clones look like real deal by counting slots trick only.

that is one 'ellava iffy advice in my view - try flash a blue clone with a blue real for example and there is a good chance you will end up with a brick and be no telly for christmas.

open it look at tuner if it goes to end of board then its a blue as i learnt today while your there make sure its not a clone (reason I vote open it for the sake of 6 screws)

just llok @ the top right of the box there is vents yes

now inside those vents there is a silver tunner ok

now count the number of vents the tunner is it will be 8 or 12

8 = blue

12 = red

For once I disagree HONCHO - had a couple where I could count it to being a blue from slots but then take the lid off and it is obviously a blue clone. The 2 firmwares clone/not are incompatible and wrong one has danger of house brick to another!

well m8 my post was not to spot a clone just to tell diff from blue or red
so please dont tell me how to suck eggs as i know ma stuiff eh or if you wanna pick me up on some thing get yer facts right.
