Hi mate,

Vista seems to cause alot of problems with IFA.
I've tried it before and it does not like it one bit.
When the start button is pressed and turn on the box Vista OS immediately shuts down.
Plus the fact you have a far better chance of success using IFA with a null modem cable and xover cable and as you probably already know, Newer laptops do not have a 9 pin serial port for a null modem cable.
I wouldn't bother using Vista and just stick with the tried and tested and reliable XP. Works everytime.
You can however FTP to the box using Vista.

Hope this helps answer your question.

thanks plasterer, have tried that link to ifa with no luck, do you leave Lan settings to auto search for ip or do you set up ip address as normal (end digit one lower than box)my xp pc works better if ip address is set up,
vista just doesnt see box when its turned on. does media sensing apply to vista??
