Default A couple of questions.

Hi all, thanks for the help I have had so far from the forum.

Just ordered a 1.1m Triax dish. I am planning to setup 4 lnbs on the dish and wonder what is the maximum seperation between sats I can expect. I need 28.2 for my sky subs, would I be able to get as far as 1w ? If so how far east can I go? Planning to use Sky Quad LNB's as a m8 of mine can get hold of them for me from a m8 of his. I realise these might not be the best option but I can't afford other dual/quads just yet.

I have bought a Fortec Star Zeta twin tuner pvr. Anyone know if these boxes are ok or just average ?Picked it up at maplin for £40.00, bargin I thought. Is there any cam I can get that will allow it to read my sky card ? I'm not bothered about keeping it alive as I would put my sky box in bed room and move the card to watch sky there anwy.

20 degrees is about the maximum, as the triax multiblock is not long enough for any further than that. You will be able to get 28E, to 13E though, maybe 9E as well. Not sure if the bracket was extended or modified that it could pck up a wider span, as I have not tried.

Yes, the CAM to use is the Diablo, plus you need a programmer, total cost approx £130.

The best option dish wise, if you were getting the Diablo, is to put 1W to 19E on the Triax fixed, and used a Sky minidish for 28e.

Alternatively, motorise the dish, which will give you much more flexibility.

For a motorised dish or for the focal LNB I would strongly recomended using a proper LNB, not a Sky dish one. Although I have found that on the offset LNBs it is not that critical as they are out of focus anyway.

Yes it will Thanks Robbo.

I thought about a motorised setup but decided on multi lnb.

What I plan is to have is 4 lnb's (need to figure out how to mod the brackets to take em but quietly confident lol) Two feeds from each lnb will go to diseq switches and then to the twin tuners on the fortec box. I will also take a third feed from the 28.2 lnb to the sky box. Might invest in a minidish for 28.2 though as it will save me modding any brackets.

Either way I am sure I will have fun setting it all up.

Yep, both will apparently. But I don't know how to do it, but it has been done by many. Have a look at posts by Mickha, I'm sure he has expalined the procedure more than once. For the Diablo, you will need the appropriate Underworld file, for the Dragon I think it is Stealth.

Yes, You will have fun. I love setting up mutifeeds. It takes longer than a motorised dish, though. The beauty of the Triax 110 is that the dish is so big, you can get 13E,16E and 19E, without having to use the narrow feedhorns.

The Inverto Silvertech singles are just small enough to do it.The twins are wider though, and Ive not tried with those.

Think I will go for the Diablo as it seems to open more than the dragon from the posts I've read. Will have to wait a while as maxed my budjet so far. Hope I will get away with the sky quads, only paying £5 each for them.

Yes,that is cheap. As long as you dont want 16E they will probably work ok.

Default Re: A couple of questions.

was thinking 9, 13, 19 and 28 unless I go for a minidish 2 and then 1w 13, 19 and 28.

Might setup as 9 13 19 and 28, If I get a minidish later I can move the triax to get 1, 13 and 19 as you suggest Robbo.

Thanks for the help m8, it is greatly appriciated.

You could do 1W, 9E, 13E, 19E, I have done that on a TD88.

If you get your mate to get you a minidish as well, perhaps h'ell only charge a fiver for that too.

No, EDIT hang on, for more than 4 sats, you have to use Diseqc 1.1, which are more expensive.
