The change of keyroll method at the end of last month happened for 2 reasons, the first one being Sly were on their case due to the recent introduction of sly1 and a few others back on to the cable platform. They were given to VM probably on the condition they were actively seen to be countering the TV fraud scene. The second reason is its perfect timing to get a whole bunch of new subscribers or even basic package subscribers on to a more expensive package, generating more cash to both Sly and VM.

On the subject of NAG3 I can only say I'll believe it when i see it as i dont think its coming as soon as some say if at all, I believe there are much more cost effective options available to the CC's when the analogue signal stops and the have more of the spectrum to play with, i.e if they put all the decent channels on to a full interactive service like the PPV movies and regularly switch the freq's of them throughout the broadcasts will be a real bummer to all us parasites and nowhere near as expensive as a full encryption change.

just a thought.if dickie is changing encryption so soon, why would he send is boys out with the fraud squad to stop the sale of these boxes.surely dickie would allow the sellers to flood the market with these boxes knowing they will be useless in a couple of weeks.he could then sit back with a large brandy thinking about the abusive phone calls these sellers will get from angry punters.like i said just a thought!!!!!!

I think those keys for dream on agila at 146e are still on n2. Lyngsat does say n3 but unless I see or hear differently I would still say n3 is secure. Premier, polsat, D+ and TV cabo all gone in the last year. No sign of them opening on Emu. Just getting an N3 the card to read in any thing other than an original box was hard enough. The N3 cards are firewall protected and have not been breatched. Or not reported in the open. Only way round this would be linux box and sharing.

to be honest vm make more money on the telephone and broadband than on the tv side of the business.its sky that are bullying for more secure encryption to protect there assets.shame cause if sky didnt blackmail there customers into buying there overpriced services then piracy may not be as big of an issue.

I'm kinda suspicious of Sky's motives - I know for example, that if VerminMedia find a way to lock my EV out, I'd cancel my min tele package and bite the bullet to Sky HD. Once that is done I might take a BT landline back and get rid of Vermin altogether as unhappy with the way VM screw down my broadband speed about any time I stream something big. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but seems a great way to wipe out the competition by leaning on Vermin.

got that spot on.sky dont like competition.every time setanta is mentioned sky start growling.vm are introducing more channels that sky dont have a say in,not well liked at sky headquarters.on the old anologue satellite ,if you wanted to encrypt a channel you had to go through skys video crypt ,sky had total control ,but with cable they dont.
