No Cable Signal!

Hey al, jope i can get some help here. I'm doing a box for my aunt and she wants that upstairs in her room. In her room she has one of the old diamond sockets on her wall. I tried to use this socket for her box but there appears to be no signal coming through that socket. I went outside to the omnibox and i saw that there is a three way splitter there with three cables connected. 1 goes downstairs to the front room where the BB is installed (new virgin white box installed there on the wall and then runs to modem). The next cable runs from outside the house through the passage way and then into the tv room and directly to the virgin box. The third cable coming out the omnibox seems to run through the passage way also but somehow just disappers into the wall!!! So any idea how i figure out why the old diamond box ain't working or how i can fix it? Or am i just better of running a new cable direcly from her room into the omnibox as her room is directly beneath the omnibox outside.

mate open up the old diamond box maybe the cables dis-connecting from inside that diamond box
