can i update through the browser or does it have to be through max232

you CAN update via the browser, however pre rc5 had a bug where it didnt check to see if firmware was written correctly.

id recommend 232. you can follow the instructions in the "modem stopped working 10 dec" thread.

i haven't got a max232, if i were to use the browser which file is used to ugrade, i have haxorware 1.0rc6 and there are a few files thx

depends on your area, edocsis version for ex c&w, docsis for everywhere else.

i never, i had it off a friend, i could get him to do it but i am very impatient, plus i like to learn how to do things nyself as i hate bothering peopl as you can see i will ask and ask until i feel confident to do things myself.

fair enough, well at least with webstars they have a jtag port, so you cant really totally brick it.

if you want to get into this, i suggest a rs232 and a webstar jtag lead. pick up both from fleabay for approx 20 quid.

webstar jtag (wired differently to motorolas etc)
