Default setting up a motor

Im just wondering is this right and is there somthing I missed

1 get pole perfect
2 you set the angles for the motor and dish
3 Make sure the motor is at 0
4 put motor on pole
5 put dish on motor
6 have pole/motor and dish in a straight line
7 swing motor to my due south(8W for me but I think my dish is too small)
8 find find 8W
9 get best signal
10 connect motor
11 test the arc

PS between 10 and 11 tighten all bolts etc

is all the above right or have I made a mistake somewhere

thanks in advance!

Step 3 only applies if your longitude exactly matches the satellite you have picked. Otherwise you have to offset it a little from zero.

Check out the guides listed here.

DiSEqC motor installation guides.

I would set up using USALS if your receiver allows it.

After step 6.

Enter Long and Lat into receiver and send motor/dish to 8w.

Then step 7.

That way the motor will have taken care of the offset difference between your longitude and your nearest due south sat - 8W in your case.

I never managed to get USALS working on the TM9100 I tried, but the image was way out of date.

Yep, Good point Robbo.

Before you attempt the installation you need to load the latest image - which will add a lot more functionality to the receiver.

Ehh?

For 1W satellite you'd have to move the motor to approx 8.5 degrees east.

But obviously you would be using 8W satellite, so that you'd have to set it to about 1.5 degrees east.
