Default Can I Use Cable

HI, I am fairly new to all this so dont shoot me for getting something wrong.
I have cable broadband from Virgin and I was wondering if i could put a splitter on and use a cable tv box.
Will this work because I only have internet, so will they be sending tv signals down the line as well or wont it?
I dont want to waste my money getting a 2nd hand cablebox, splitter and wire just to find out that it doesnt work.
Any help is appreciated.

Yea ,this is what most people do,as stated it works fine. Take the cable feed out of your modem & put it in your tv & you will even get some channels. What kind of box were you going for mate, were you just looking a box for freeview or one with all channels?. Dont just buy any box(ebay ect) because there are different boxes for different areas.

Good luck
