Yer tbh. I only like the Sky channels for one thing. and that is Road Wars on Sky 1, 2 and 3. Maybe a bit of simpsons. But i didnt miss it. They can get rid of it if they like and cancel the encryption upgrade

hahaha I know what you mean... I think I've watched about 6 hours worth of the Sky channels since they have come back... Think is all the shows that I wacth on there I've downloaded in HD from PB

The only good thing that will come out of it is that I expect once the new Encryption is fully rolled out we will get all the Sky HD channels (I've interpretated that from the end of year report from virmin to there share holders stating that there will be a lot more HD content/channels being introduced) WOOT!

Gonna call Virmin later

The change is happening as written into the contract with Sly when we got the Sly channels back was to have the encryption changed to something more solid as Sly did not want there channels being viewed for free. So as discussed ealier it may be NDS encryption to the fact that Sly want this to be secure as most people do not like Virmin but only suffer with it because they get the channels for free Though NDS has been hacked and there is solutions out there to get Sly for free, well only one and its the biggest pain the the arse to do no one bothers with it
iv got 3 subbed boxs have not received a card yet or heard any thing about new cards,i think we will get a least another 6 months to a year out of it and thats proberly about it.

Quick question, if Sly are saying you must have whatever encryption to stop our channels being used free, instead of the whole bloody box, why dont sly just encrypt the useless channels they have given us and then make end user pay a fee to decrypt them, this way those of us that are happy with the 'free' tv that we have wouldnt be affected.
Dont think Vermin or Sly would see it this way, but you never know.
Failing that if they want to impliment their own rules then they should buy Vermin out right then they can do what they want, although i reckon they may lose a few customers as i wouldnt pay £40+ pm to watch repeats.
Just my opinion

I have only very recently joined the cable scene after purchasing a ex1000sl box. Previously to this i was into the satellite scene and have gone through the whole Nagravision3 scenario with all the good channels becoming scrambled (hence the reason for cable).

It would seem to me that VM are in no rush to beef up their encryption as all the good stuff people want to access is from S*Y (ie sport and films etc) which VM obviously does not create and does not make much money in offering this content to its customers which differs from the satellite channels who are keen to secure their product.

It seems to me that VM want to maintain their subscription revenues as most people will at least take out a minimum subscription in order to benefit from their weak Nagravision1 encryption and i believe no amount of sabre waving by Mr M*rdoch will alter their stance.

Presuming that VM offer S*Y channels due to competition rules then all the actions that VM have taken to 'beef up' their security is merely paying lip service to M*rdochs wishes to have all his channels totally secure and i believe that this stance shall continue for some time to come especially in this current economic climate.

Just my thoughts of course!!!
