Hey guys... Ive recently bought a chipped Virgin Media Modem.. Plugged it all in via my Linksys Router. It wont allow me on the internet untill ive filled in the setup page... It asks me for my Surname and Postcode that i gave them to register with... Well i obviously didnt and now im stuck!

Any1 got any ideas or can just push me into the right direction to get this sorted?

ambit 256 is a pain in the ass.

you cant flash a custom firmware to it, all you can do is change the mac address and a couple of settings, to do this you need an SPI programmer and test clips (around £40) and this doesnt even leave you safe as you cant disable telnet/snmp/various other options the custom firmwares have.

Id recommend leave alone and buy a motorola SB5101e.

well, your options are:

change mac yourself = £40 in equipment (Part1, Part2, Software)
find guy who originally sold you it = £??
buy a motorola SB5101e = around £30 on ebay (without PSU), or £45 from me with next day and PSU included, which isnt as bad as it sounds as PSU costs £6-7 and next day special deliver is like £6

you need serial adapter, cost about a £12, or you can send it me £10 + return shipping.

either way a 250 will work.
