Default Is my TV HD?

I've got a Hitachi 42PD4200 and I wanna connect my PS3 via DVI. Now it isn't HD ready but in the manual it says if you connect via DVI you will get 1080i/720p. So will it look like proper HD?

Its the TV you have so connect it and see, though it will only be really noticeable if you have a full HD TV beside it. The pic quality will still be good.

It's down to how well the PS3 can output via the DVI port as opposed to the HDMI port as well as how good your TV can interpret the signals from the DVI port.
Remember the PS3 might not allow an output of 1080i or 720p via the DVI port and might restrict you.

As Charlie says, it's your tv and PS3... connect and see... unless you got a FULL HD screen next to it, you might not notice the difference.

I had problems connecting with the scart cable.

I picked up an HDMI cable for £10 in game.. it doesnt matter which cable it is they all do the same job..

I connected the ps3 to the tv and then to get the best image you go to display settings on your ps3 and it will find which mode (720p, 1080i or 1080p) your tv has.

It will connect your ps3 and thats it

when talking about a 720p signal, it means the image being sent has 720 vertical lines. when talking about the panel, it means it has at least 720 pixel height

HDMI conveniently combines both sound and vision through one lead. You can get HDMI to DVI leads and show HDMI through DVI input but you will need a separate lead for teh sound. Qhite often HDMI source is protected by HDCP (copy right) If your display is not HDCP compliant then it will not dispaly HDMI through the DVI input. Then there id DVI A and DVI D. Hope this helps
