Default upgrading haxorware 1.0rc4 to rc6 via browser/update firmware page

is this safe to do? as my modem came pre flashed, and on the set of instructions it said in red DO NOT click firmware update as it will brick your modem? my modem is playing up atm, will be fine then the activity light stays on solid without flashing, have to reboot and all is good for a few more hours then stays on solid agen also getting lots of errors =

Its possible to update via the webgui, but anything pre RC6 can fail to write the update correctly, as it writes the update but doesnt verify, RC6 fixed this.

So its unsafe unless you are running RC6.

Which modem and do you have serial/jtag?

you can update via serial, but you need to have the "dirty" bootloader for the 5101 which allows access to the "p" options etc, if this isnt already on the modem you can install it via Jtag or maybe softjtag (ive not tested this personally and as i have the required equipment)

assuming the bootloader is the serial enabled one, you need to solder in the 4 pin header and make a lead to this spec...

ok serial cable + softjtag will allow you to change the bootloader.

if you want to send it me as per pm, you are still welcome to do so, but if you want to save some money, you can try softjtag method and ill talk you through it.

if you screw it up, then you can always send it me anyway.
