Default pace 4010 on C&W... update

as some of you will be aware, i was offered a pure ntl 4010 but i'm on C&w.

i took it and after a small amout of faffing about, i have it up and running on c&w running VERY old (3.3 i think) software.

i kind of got it working by trial and error, so i have an idea, but dont know EXACTLY how it did it.

i dont know if j tagging differs with pace and samsung, but we told for samsung to have it ''on stream'' amd we are told for pace to have it off...

now up to now, i have only jtagged samsung. usually to set net in on samsung, i short battery, start it up and then run my marco on ocd and it sets new net id and then the numbers roll getting the update.

now with the pace, i wasn't 100% sure how to do this. j tagging didn't really do anything exceopt change all the numbers to ***** but also with it being off stream, how was it meant to update the new software version?

next i tried with funcard. again, i was unsure whether i was meant to set the net id ( inserting funcard whilst on eng menu) on or off stream. everytime i did it whilst in eng menu, it did nothing. in the end i just left the card it and powered up the box from scratch and it changed the net id...

but i'm still stuck on 3.3... i've tried starting up by holding stand by then up, right, down left, but my box dont have ''ok'' so i asumed i press select, but this does nothing... just starts the box up normally... i've checked to see if i have the ''no update mod'' but the resister is there, so its not that.

lastly, looking inside, talk back has been cut good and propper, but i have no flashing light on the front, how can i check for sure?

power up the box and press settings on your remote then press technical stuff it should say 'return path is off' if talk back is succesfully cut

Glad to hear you got it going mate, hope the info i gave helped in some way, as for updating the software dont think it ever will, the one i have is stuck on Cr3 as well, and i have been told because the box is not for this area there is no update on our system for it. i have been told the only way it will update is to take to correct area and put in stream and allow to take update.

does that mean that some pure ntl areas are still running on this old software then? as the guy who had it before me was using it regularly, in a pure ntl area...

i can understand that a box for a certain area cant download the software from another area, as it may noy be available, but how does does the box ''request'' an upgrade? it aint like these boxes talk to ''the system'' as there is no talk back, so that must mean there is just one software that is sent... do pace boxes usually auto update like the samsungs? my mate has a 4000 running latest software...

not sure about what softwares running in other areas, but yes Pace boxes do normally update pretty much as soon as you connect them to a feed, even with talkback cut, unless its had some sort of antiupdate mod.
