Default Recording Freesat from Sky.

Hi,
This is my first post and I hope this hasn't been asked too many times before...

Having tried, unsuccessfully, installing a Freesat system that I obtained for £32 from M*plin a while back, (I'm a cheapskate), I have gone for the soft option and just had the Freesat from S*y installed at the one off payment of £150.
We have been suffering with dreadful reception for years and I can't believe the improved quality in reception.
I didn't go for the S*y+ box as it meant a monthly rental.
To achieve the same facility, is it possible to go for one of the digital recorders with a hardrive and record from this S*y system? It appears that most of these recorders have a freeview facility and I don't understand whether this will conflict with the S*y Box.

If the answer is 'yes' any suggestions as to which recorder to go for would be appreciated. I am hoping one of the lower end ones, around £80, from A*gos will suffice?

simple answer is no, no + box no recording but you can if you buy a + box from fleebay or buy something like a dreambox s clearly a freeview box wont work as it wont have a sat tuner in it

Hi Danielle.
Many thanks for the rapid reply.
I don't think I explained right. I have the sat tuner in the S*y box.
Where I'm confused is whether I will have a problem putting a digital recorder after that as the recorders I have seen also have a freeview in them. I was hoping that by adding a recorder it would end up the same as the S*y+ box only in two items instead of one.

I don't have S*y but it shouldn't be a problem, connect a scart lead from your receiver to any DVD recorder, select AV, sometimes 1 or 2, depending on how many scart connections the DVD recorder has, and you should be able to record.
If you have an old video recorder try it with that.
