the application is windows media, but it enters an obnoxious mode where it takes a couple minutes "searching for device to synchronize" or something to that effect, which seems to take forever and in order to abort I usually end up having to go to the task manager and request to quit the application. I meant to select "do nothing" when the options window opened, and accidentally selected "synchronize device using windows media" before ticking the box which says "always perform the selected task". Now I don't know how to stop it from doing it. I'm reluctant to have to uninstall windows media, is that my only choice now?

can u not do system restore to earlier time and see if this fixes it ?
