Lee-ds not quite sure what you mean by stitch it to com port 1,what is happening is i have gone back to the older null cable as you suggest but have now connected that to a usb adapter from which i have downloaded the driver correctly, the device manager is saying that the adapter is on port 3 but when itry to change the com port to port 3 in the firmware loader it wont let me do it,i get an error box saying cannot find the serial port, any suggestions mate,oh and by the way very much appreciate the help so far this can all be a bit hair pulling when you dont know what you are doing.

Hi Boomer39, thanks for the great info! I have acquired the cable etc and I am gonna have a go at flashing my own box as it has stopped working (well you have to start somewhere!) I was just wondering (being a newbie n all) what the boxes that are for sale on skywonder are and can they be flashed to receive all channels? The box that I have is literally called "the box" what are the best ones to look out for as if I manage to do this one I want to get another box in my sitting room? |

starview 4 usb is probably the best to get if u r gettin a new one it s the lastest one ,,it s easier to flash becos u dont need null modem cables port coms etc u just download the lastest firmware to a usb stick and also u can record if u want..and it s not much diff in price from other s v s .....the box is sv 2
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() yup the boxes can be flashed to use all the channels |

Hi Bigfella, sorry to sound like a complete noodle but how do I know what is the correct Frimware/software for the starview 4? also is it possible to "brick" the box just as you can with a games console?
