Laptops usually have an inbuilt CD/DVD drive, can you please post more information regarding the laptop including the model number.

I have finally found a manual, for your notebook, on the Medion site:
_http://www.medion.co.uk/service/frame/top.htm?drivers_updates/drivers_updates.htm

It seems that an external CD/DVD drive is an optional extra.
Try reading the manual and if the required information isn't covered then contact medion support for how to boot from an external CD/DVD drive, although it should pick up any bootable disk on boot up.
