I have been told that if my Xbox 360 is chiped and is stealth or something that as long as I don't play pre released games online I will be ok with no way of detection is this correct? Or are you just taking a risk of being banned.

Stealth means exactly as it says. You won't get detected on Live unless you are playing a pre-release game as you said. When the new iXtreme 1.5 is released (ETA: Xmas Eve), it should have improved stealth support for games.

Not long bought a 360 and the reason i bought it was for online gaming. I have been wondering......if i mod it, will i still be able to go LIVE with original releases? Or is it too much of a risk to modify it
As i said....i only bought it for LIVE |

Yes, you will be fine playing originals on Live if you mod it. You can also play stealth backups as said above. Do not take the risk with backup games that aren't confirmed to be stealth patched because you will most likely get banned. I hope this answers your question IAMBACK

Well it's both really. If they detect a backup disc, they will ban your console's MAC Address and then your console gets blacklisted on the Live servers so you won't be able to connect. This is why stealth patching the games is vital if you want to play on Live.

What drive do you have? The Hitachi is the worst to do in my opinion because you can brick it if anything goes wrong with your computer. The Samsung, BenQ and Lite-On drives can all be restored to a working state if they are bricked. The Hitachi can be restored but the TSOP needs desoldering if you mess up which is a pain unless you know somebody with the kit to read the chip. A willem or other compatible programmer is needed to read the firmware chip and restore a working firmware onto it.
