Hi there. im new to the site and was wondering if you could help me. a friend has a box that keeps going down. she keeps putting the codes in but she needs me to put the firmware on for her. only problem is (apart from the fact ive never done it before) is i cant find any links to the model number she has. the model number is dvb-xc vox stv.

Would this be called another name and can someone point me in the right direction please. any help is greatly apriceated.

Do you possibly know what box it came in? What it looks like on the front? Colour? and rough size i.e. Thin or chunky.

thanks for the quick reply mate. its quite thin its mainly black with grey and silver at the front. she has had it about 2 years

i think it looks like the bottom link but ive have only seen a photo she sent me on my mobile so ill need to go to her house and double check. She is now telling me its Euro vox max if thats any help

Right it could now be either the RED or BLUE one.
Ask your friend if she remembers what colour the box was. Either red bits or blue bits to it.

sorry for jumping in Aciidsn3ak3r, just reading a few posts, and came upon this one.

ringojim, you have a eurovox blue, i think these are 2006 model, as you say probably about 2years old (ish) Ok you need a couple of things in order to get this up and running, you'll need to download a toolbar - if you do a google search type "thechatterboxcc toolbar" plenty of links will come up,you'll need to download this and then reboot your pc, you should then have an extra bit at the top when you go onto the net, it will show small icons with drop down arrows, you want files and fixes - it will have a picture of a spanner and a hammer, click this and go down to , (second from bottom) click this and save to your desktop or whichever pc you intend to flash your eurovox blue with.

Make sure you have winrar as the file you download is zipped up in this format.

Ok you now got your software, now you need to sort the box – you need a lead, its called a rs232 NULL MODEM cable, maplins are pretty good, if you don’t have this connection on your pc you will need to get a usb convert to rs232.
Basically once you got the cable (and usb conversion if needed) one end in the eurovox, the other in the pc, your eurovox needs to be plugged in so at least the light is on at the front, (it dosen’t matter if it is switched on or not) extract the file and as long as the cables are connected, click start.

You should start to see on the display on the front DNLD (or similar) flashing on the front panel of the eurovox, once the flash process has finished your pc should say “download successful” you can now disconnect the cable, your box is now flashed, plug in and do a scan.
Your scan frequency depends where you are in the country.

There are many helpful tutorials and it shows you in great depth how to do the above with image pictures aswell, there are some real helpful people around aswell, but if you look around pal all of the answers are there for you.

you have both been lots of help and im sorry for being a pain. i have got my lead now to do the update the only thing i would ask is if you could point me in the right direction to download the chatterbox toolbar. i have been searching all afternoon but was unable to find the correct one ( i did install one but it must have been the wrong one because i was getting a picture of an american footballer!!)

i have tried to open the link on the tutorial aswell but the page cannot be found anymore!

Once installed you will be able to access the Files button and then just find yours on their.
