Default Help in setting up motorised system

I'm trying to set up my new system but i'm struggling somewhat.
I've got a Clarke tech 5000 hd on a motorised dish.
The pole is upright, the dish is pointing due south ( well magnetic south).
I know the basics in what i need to achieve, find my nearest due south sat then fine tune, i'm at 52 N, 1 E so Thor is mine.
The problem i have is mainly in the setup of the reciever. It has both USALS and DISCeQ 1.2. If i'm correct, USALS will send the motor directly to a preset location and DISCeQ will send the motor to a location that has to be manually entered into the reciever (by me). It seems that the simplest option for set up would be USALS but my motor info has no mention of USALS only DISCeQ. Am i missing something, will the motor simply follow instructions from the reciever in either mode, or does it have to be in DISCeQ as the motor info doesn't mention USALS??
Thanks.

The receiver does have USALS also known as DiSEqC 1.3 or Go to X when in the motor menu use the right arrow button on the remote, you have 3 options, none, DiSEqC 1.2 then USALS, the motor is a Technomate and is DiSEqC 1.3 compatable same as USALS.

Yep, USALS is much easier and quicker, without any loss of accuracy.

So just enter your location in motorised settings under USALS (Position setting) and send the dish to 0.8W and maximise the signal quality on 11325H by adjusting the dish etc.

Hello slowbob.
If you have got you motor/dish setup properly.on 1w.And your receiver
set for usals your motor will go to preset satellite positions.
As you say in disec you have to drive the motor to the satellite that you want then store it.If you start with usals you can always have a go at disec any time.
I find that when the wind has shifted my dish/motor.I use disec to fine tune the sat that I want until I can get up the ladder to reset the dish.

Thanks for the response, I'll give it another go with USALS.

Well i'm a happy bloke. Tried again after setting all sats to USALS and hey presto, they all slotted into place.
I must just praise the quality of the kit that Ian at Southern Satellite supplied me with. The Clarke Tech receiver is a fantastic piece of kit. Highly recommend .

Yep, it's a good little receiver, almost identical in operation to the equivalent Technomate, but looks better.
