Definetly a step in the right direction although i wouldnt be too impressed with the front usb for an external hd.
But no lan and eSATA (not essential) surely this is to keep the price down

The manufacturers obviously want it to be affordable, if they start adding all the unnecessary extras it will end up costing around the 250 quid mark but barebones like it is i could take a guess at it being around the 150 mark, they'll have to consider moving usb to the rear though or better still add another.

Yeah but surely they could of put the usb hub in the back at no extra cost. When you have friends or visitors round do you really want them to ask you why you have a cable or a dongle sticking out the front of your box while on ss1 or similar.

i think the plan must be to have 2 the same as the 8000, its handy in the front for flashing with usb pen but thats about it.
