Default dreambox 7000s network problem

not sure if this is the correct section but here goes

i have just changed my isp for my broadband (used to be with metronet)

now i have gone to O2

the problem i have is when i used my linksys router wag 354g i could access the dreambox 7000s by means of a linksys wet 11 network bridge

now i have the router from O2 wireless box 11 and although works very well
i can no longer access the db because i can't get the O2 router to work with the wet11

i have been updating my dreambox wirelessly now for a couple of years
and to be honest don't remember how to upload keys etc manually now

has anyone any idea what may be the problem
or could give an idea how i could use the linksys router with O2

i have been in touch with o2 who seem very helpful but dreamboxes are not their speciality

hope someone can give a few ideas

Is your Dreambox connection set to use dhcp? If so that may be the problem. I suggest you give a fixed IP to the Dreambox connection using the same IP range as the router and disable dhcp.

thanks for the reply jim
in the communication setup the dhcp is ticked
the wet11 has a default setting of 192.168.1.225
when i had the linksys router working (when with metronet)then i had the dreambox as 192.168.1.102
but i have tried using other ip address but just can't communicate with db
i have the nameserver and the gateway set the same as the new router from O2

Untick the dhcp because the new router may not be giving an IP to the wet11. Also the IP can be changed if you connect anything else to your network.

Are you able to 'ping' your Dreambox? If not, what is the IP of your new O2 router?

hi jimdefruit
i have unticked the dchp
i am not able to ping the dreambox
the ip address of the O2 router is 192.168.1.254

i have tried to reconfigure the wet11 but still can't access the dreambox

maybe if i could configure the linksys wag354g to use with O2 i may be able to wirelessly connect to the dreambox as before?

If your linksly router is a modem router. I would think that it would work with 02.I use a netgear wireless router with no problems. You would have to input your o2 username and password.for the router to connect to o2.

Edit I should add I am not with 02.Thinking about going there though,I'm sick of tiscali.

well i have tried unsuccessfully to configure the wet11

i have now hard wired the router directly to the set top box and this works ok and i can now access the box.
so i now need to either aquire a long cable or try again with the wet11
but at least i can eventually access the box

Now is the time to make a note of all the settings for the various components.
