You shouldnt need a driver for that - its just a connector cable. You may need software for the item you are connecting to it but thats another matter

Lets go back to first principles - what are you connecting to the computer and what are you trying to do?

I have a suspicion I know what the problem is - you are looking for a com port and the software doesnt recognise it.

Right click on My Computer on the desktop then click on properties. Then click on the hardware tab, then on device manager.

Then on the Ports (COM & LPT) item on the menu. You should have an Item labelled something along the line of USB SERIAL PORT (COM14)

Right click and click on Properties, then on the PORT SETTINGS tab then on the Advanced button.

With a bit of luck one of the lower port numbers will be free - change it to 1 - 4 if possible and ok it. Close all the boxes and go through them again to see if the change stuck.

Then run the loader again and set it for COM 1 or whatever you have set it for.

If you have a PC just buy a PCI RS232 card. Its so much easier. Then You can just plug in a RS232 lead without having to fart on. Try Lindy or Maplin

I do not know if it is the same problem.but I use a usb to serial cable on my laptop. To use the cable I have to load a driver for the cable.Which I have to do now to connect to my technomate reciever.

PS I have to reload the driver because I have reinstalled windows recently. On with it now digy gone down.
