Default Panasonic Vierra connection problems

I am a complete novice with these sorts of things but I bought a Panasonic Vierra 42" HD TV and a HD DVD recorder with hard drive. Have connected them with HDMI lead and Scart as per the instructions in the manual. Then put the aerial lead into the DVD. Problem is that TV comes up with the message "no signal". Can watch the TV through the DVD but not on its own. I can take the aerial lead out and put it in the TV and everything with the tv is fine but of course then cannot record on the DVD - any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong. As I said I have no understanding of these things.

Hi, is there an RF out next to where you put the aerial into your dvd player? if so put a lead from there to tv.

Thank you that was a simple remedy. Pity the instruction manual didnt tell us that in the 1st place. Now the next query is can we record on the DVD recorder while watching another programme on the TV?

I would think so, if not you could always get a splitter.
