Default Scart To AV Advice

My father in law wants to get his mate some wirless headphones to watch tv. From what I can gather said mates tv only has a scart connection.

If I was to slap one of these scart adapters

SCART to AV Adapter 3 x Phonos/SVHS with IN/OUT Switch on eBay, also, SCART Cables, Accessories, Consumer Electronics (end time 04-Jan-09 13:01:01 GMT)

into the tv could I then connect the transmitter to this using the red/white channel plugs? I assume that the adapter would have to be set to output. It seems that it should work but I'm not 100%.

It probably depends on the headphones but I would say that if you connect the headphone transmitter to the scart o/p it will not work. They are usually geared up to work with a headphone socket on the TV or other audio source. The scart o/p will be mismatched to the transmitter i/p. The scart o/p doesn't go through the TV internal amp but a headphone socket on a TV does. You may be able to get a cordless headphone set that will work from the scart o/p and if your TV doesn't have a dedicated headphone socket then this is what you have to look for.
