This is my first time, I'm a 100% virgin(no pun intended lol) when it comes to modems.

So I'll defo brick it, I'll then need to learn how to jtag it (ohhh the fun)

That's what it's all about though, learning

you would need to lift the tsop and reprogram it, not an easy job.

Just wondering, how long does the "P" option stay on the screen for?
And where abouts on the screen is it? (just so I know where to look if it's only a couple of seconds)

(Is there a screen shot anywhere that I could have a look at?)

And btw, I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction and all the help you've given me so far.

the p option is the first thing that comes up, there is a log in the "problems flashing haxorware" thread.

but if you have the original firmware on the modem still, you likely wont have the p option as the boot menu is disabled.

you need to use the console unlocker to get console access, then softjtag to write the bootloader that has options enabled.

once that is done, connect to modem via putty/hyperterm and reboot the modem, you will get the menu with p, if you miss it, power off FAST as the original firmware will overwrite the bootloader again if you let it boot up and you will have to do it all again.

Can i just ask, is it better just buying a flashed modem off ebay or buying a max232 and doing it myself?

Sorry for such a noob question but i just like to know before i try any of this, thanks.

I've been looking a a tutorial by pokerplayer:

In Windows Networking, set your network adaptor too-

IP Address: 192.168.100.10
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.100.1
Leave any other settings alone and hit OK.

I cannot seem to be able to change these and don't have Network adapter under Windows Networking(I'm on XP home addition)

also, I don't have Hyper Terminal (or is this embedded in another software?)

Stuck at the first fence pmsl
