Default Canal sport 1

Hi All!!!

I have been setting up my motorised dish over the past few days (located in Northern Ireland). Some fine tuning of the dish setup is still required but i am generally getting a strong signal on Thor (70% plus on most transponders). However i don't appear to be getting any signal from the transponder that transmits canal sport 1 (11278 V SR 24500). Does anyone have any ideas why this would be the case???? Do i just need to do more fine tuning or is the signal from this transponder too weak???

You shouldn't have a problem on a 1m dish, I'm getting a very good signal on that transponder, and I'm in the same signal level contour as you. (a bit further in though)

Thor is a funny bugger when it comes to Canal Sports Channels. Fiddle with Inclination and it will sort that out for you, i would tune it to Canal Sport 1 and then once thats locked all other transponders will be fine, its for some reason a very sensetive transponder relative to others Regards

I am having a similar proble but the other way around.

i can get the canal package with a good signal but have a poor signal on the digi tv package. i used to have a decent signal as i could watch the channels.

could my dish have moved slighty ? if anythin do you think it will be the incline at fault ?

Hi All!!

I have spent today fine tuning my dish and have the signal maximised on thor 1 with a signal meter- but still no canal + sports 1. I will try what footylad suggests tomorrow- but does anyone have any other suggestions? e.g. is it worthwhile scanning for silghtly different TP signal???

My receiver usually prefers the frequency to be slightly higher,e.g. 11276 try 11278, or try lower 11274 V 24500.
If you are receiving all the other channels check for other problems like a cordless phone, which does stop some frequencies scanning in.

Hi All!!!

Trev's lesson for today- double check all transponder information first!!! When i checked this i discovered that this transponder was saved in my receiver with horizontal polarisation rather than vertical!!! Amazingly when i corrected the polarisation all the channels magically appeared!!! Stupid d**k!!! Appologies to all and thanks for all the help and advice!!
